Shattered Illusion - Secrets from the Past Shatter
A Yogi once remarked, 'If your illusions are shattered, it signifies your proximity to reality.'
In many cultures, the divine is often associated with goodness.
However, delving into the Shiva Purana reveals a complex portrayal of Shiva - Sundaramurthy, the epitome of beauty, yet equally capable of the most terrifying aspects. He embodies contradictions - an ascetic and a family man, a dancer and motionless, revered by both gods and demons.

Shiva's essence lies in embracing all aspects of life without repulsion. He symbolizes a complete acceptance of existence, transcending societal norms and psychological barriers. This means accepting both the positive and negative aspects of existence without judgment or aversion. It's about finding harmony within oneself and with the world around, understanding that all experiences contribute to the greater cosmic dance of existence.

Aghori, often associated with Shiva, indeed embodies a deep connection with life itself that surpasses conventional emotions like love or compassion. Aghoris are ascetic Shaiva sadhus known for their extreme practices, which include meditation in cremation grounds, consumption of intoxicants, and even eating human flesh. However, their practices are often misunderstood.

At the core of Aghori philosophy lies the belief in the unity of all existence. They see the divine in everything, whether it's the beauty of nature or the horror of death. Their rituals and practices are aimed at breaking down societal taboos and personal attachments to reach a state of non-duality, where distinctions between good and evil, pure and impure, dissolve.
In this sense, the Aghori's connection with life is indeed profound. They embrace all aspects of existence, recognizing the inherent divinity in everything

The Third Eye, often associated with Shiva, represents an expanded perception beyond ordinary sight, and spiritual awakening. Through the practice of yoga, one refines their energies to awaken this inner vision, allowing them to see beyond superficial appearances and dualities. Shiva embodies the pinnacle of perception, exceeding limitations to perceive life as it truly is.

If your perception has to evolve and enhance itself, the most important thing is that your energy has to evolve and enhance itself. The whole process of yoga is to evolve and refine your energies in such a way that your perception is enhanced and the third eye opens. The third eye is the eye of vision. You see this person or that person, but you are not able to see the Shiva in him. You see things the way it is necessary for your survival. This is why we say this world is maya, illusory. So another eye, an eye of deeper penetration, has to be opened up. The third eye means your perception has gone beyond the dualities of life. You are able to see life just the way it is, not just the way that is necessary for your survival.
What we refer to as Shiva is nothing but the very embodiment of ultimate perception.
This is what Shiva is about and this is what yoga is about.

Mahashivaratri, particularly in the lunar month of Magha, signifies a natural surge of energies in the cosmos. It's a time to transcend religious confines and accept the essence of Shiva, not through worship but through a deep understanding of existence. It's an invitation to surpass the boundaries of logic and embrace a state of heightened awareness and aliveness.

May this Mahashivaratri not only be a night of vigilance but also an intense experience of heightened consciousness. May you ride the wave of this cosmic surge and immerse yourself in the beauty and ecstasy of what it truly means to embody 'Shiva'."
